Tony Modra vs Taylor Walker
No prizes for guessing the top goal kicker in Adelaide’s history. Tony Modra started his AFL career in 1992 but took Adelaide and indeed the entire AFL by storm in 1993 with his high flying marks and skilful goal kicking. He finished the 1993 season with 129 goals and is still the only Crow to kick more than 100 in a season. Incredibly Modra didn’t win the Coleman Medal for the league’s highest goal kicker that year. Gary Ablett (snr) managed 124 in the regular season to Modra’s 119 (he kicked a further 10 during finals matches).
He would have to wait until 1997 to win the Coleman Medal and he is the only Adelaide player to have won that medal. No one has come close to his total of 440 goals over 118 games for the AFC.

The only current player with a chance to catch Modra is Taylor Walker. He is second on the all-time goal kicking chart at the Crows with 303 and is the only other player to kick more than 300 goals for the Crows.
He has played 130 games and needs another 137 goals to catch Modra. At his current average of about 2.3 goals per game, it will take Walker another 60 games to kick those 137 goals.

If Tex can remain relatively injury free and play most games in the coming years, we can expect him to become the leading goal kicker either towards the end of the 2019 season or beginning of 2020.
